Good Morning My Nurse Friends,
I wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Nurses Week!
I figured what better time to launch Nurses Need Care Too than nurses week!
Every day is nurses' day with this BLOG as we are celebrating each other: our accomplishments, our stories of inspiration, and offering encouragement and lifestyle tips for the busy nurse.
I hope that your work appreciates you all and is celebrating the nurses as a BIG THANK YOU for your hard work and dedication to your patients, the profession, and jobs.
Self-care Tip for Today
Celebrate Yourself and Each Other!
At one school district where I was working as a nurse, many times the nurses were forgotten for nurses day or week. At first, my feelings were a little hurt as I was putting my heart and soul into the job, students, and staff. After a while, I realized that I could take it personally and sulk about it or instead just make my own celebration.
The nurses in my school district were hardworking professionals who were AWESOME and we all loved each other. We decided to make our own festive gathering and would get together as a group after work during nurses week. We would swap war stories, catch up with each other and just celebrate EACH OTHER.
This gathering became a monthly tradition and helped us to grow as a team, gave us a place to vent and most of all relax, get to know each other, and become life-long friends.
Giving a SHOUT OUT to nurses everywhere this week and especially school nurses who work as the only medical professional and may be forgotten.
A special CHEERS to Central Dauphin School Nurses and Milton Hershey School Nurses and Staff!
Love you all!
Fondly,
Donna
